Installation of ESX 3.5 failed, no network cards

Hello,

i want install ESX Server 3.5 for testing on brand new hardware with an older network card.

The new hardware is: Intel Atom 330 with 2 GB memory and an G-Lan Realtek network card onboard and an Davicom network card 9120A.

But the installation fails because ESX Server didnt find any network card.

The Davicom card i can change next time to an Intel dual port cart who's in the compability list, but the new onboard i cant change, what can i do.

Many thanks for quick answer for anyone.

Hi Beeboop :-9

There's not much you can do, as you can't add your own drivers to ESX..... So you have to live with this until you get a supported NIC..

disable your onboard NIC's and use supported hardware of the HCL. RealTek NIC are unlikely to get support in the short to medium term, as they are not big in the server space.

Hello.

Thanks a lot, i looking at ebay for a dual or quad port card which is supported.

At this time i use openSuSE 11 with VmWare Server and the NIC's are found and works great, because its a test of a small server with a low cost board with intel Atom 330 and 2 GB memory.

Works great an the performance is enough for the server with 3 virtual machines.

And the use of energy is only 40 W/h.
