Infiniband on ESX 3.5 problems

Hi everybody,

does anybody have experience with the Melanox driver on the ESX 3.5 Update 1 ?

i have the following problem:

after installation of the driver and enabling it (mgmt-mlx status show all green/OK) i didn´t see any Melanox HBA oder LAN Adapter in the VI Client under configuration.

what´s wrong here ? can anybody help me ?

Hardware environment:

IBM Blade HS21XM with Qlogic QLA2422 and Melanox Infiniband card MT25418.

Hi, maybe I can help.

Can you login into the console OS and run

>lspci

Can you see the HCA?

Did you verify that you have the right firmware version loaded on the cards?

also what does the output of:

esxcfg-nics -l shows?

yes i see the Melanox HBA with lspci.

that was not the problem.

i found out what was wrong:

the installation guide from mellanox doesn´t work for me.

esxcfg-module ib_basic -s "--export-ksyms=linux ib_mlx4=1 net_mlx4=1"

doesn´t work. i had to insert it manually in the mgmt-mlx.conf. further i enabled the BASIC_LOAD=YES

after MGMT-MLX RESTART the Melanox Adapter appears in VirtualCenter.

but now i have the problem with the virtual adapters. how can i configure virtual LAN adapters (e.g. 4 LAN Adapters with 1 GB) ?

the installation guide says that the DualPort Melanox Adapter shown only as one adapter. is this correct ?

How exactly have your done this? Insert it manually?

Can you copy here your mgmt-mlx.conf ?
