Incompatible device backing specified for device ‘0’ while adding a hard disk

I get the "Incompatible device backing specified for device ‘0’" erro while I add a hard disk to an existing VM. Any solution to this?

Which product? How did you add the disk to the vm? What type of disk did you add?
