Is there a way to use IDE Drives with ESX for at least storage purposes? I have lots of IDE drives 200-500GB. Just trying to find some use of these drives within a VMWare ESX 3.5 environment.
You could stick them in a single box and then use something like openfiler or Windows Service for Unix to share them to your ESX hosts as NFS or iSCSI LUNs.
Hello,
Outside of Dave's suggestions, there is no way to use these disks directly. Your remote storage device needs to be able to use them.

If you're not afraid of getting your hands dirty, re-compile the CoS and include NFSv3 support. This way you can point to the CoS for NFS services and gain access to your IDE storage.
