Huge delta file created during DMotion... help!

I have a 1TB VMDK file that was DMotioned in the middle of a SQL database restore. The delta files are over 450GB.

The DMotion finished up last night but threw an error. The VM is still running just fine on the destination host, but the delta did not commit.

The way I see it, I have really only one option: make a new VM and Ghost between the two guest OSes.

Is that about it?

Did you try to commit the delta while it was running or did you shut it down. It's going to take some time to commit 450GB and most likely VC will timeout. I would shut down the VM, connect directly to the server that is running the VM with the VC client, and then try to commit the snap. It's going to take a while but thats what happens in these situations. Just let it run and wait until it's done.

Wow a 450GB snapshot file, probably going to take at least 8 hours to commit it.

It finally did commit, but it actually caused the VM to crash. Took about 8 hours indeed. Smiley Happy

Cool, curious how long had that snap been running for?
