We have fixed a HA problem by removing an ESX host from a cluster and rejoined it.
A fellow mentions that the HA agent is installed when the host joins the cluster.
Is there any way for us to reinstall the HA agent on an ESX Host ? Can we install the HA agent when VMs are still running (we have to put the ESX Host in maintenance mode before we can remove it from the cluster) ?
Thanks
I haven't tried this before, but have you tried disabling HA on the cluster and then re-enabling it?

Hi,
Yes HA automatically installed when a host is added to a cluster with HA enabled.
Try to right click your host with the HA problem and choose Reconfigure for VMware HA.

Right click host, choose "reconfigure for vmware HA"
Hi
we can remove the vpx agent manually and reinstall it. I guess this would also reinstall the aam(HA) agent.
- rpm -qa | grep vpx --- this will list the version of VPXA agent installed.
- rpm -qa | grep aam -- this will list the version of aam agent installed.
- rpm -e
Hope this helps!
Many thanks for your suggestion.
Do you think that we can perform the installation when VMs are running ?
Thanks
Yes, you can.
