How to find my templates?

Jump to solution

I am running ESX server 3.0, with Virtual Infrastructure Client 2.

At some point my template hosts disappear from the GUI (Virtual Infrastructure Client).

I have changed to alle the diffrent views, the missing hosts is not there.

The templates is not deleted, I see them thru SSH here: /vmfs/volumes/san-vmware_img

Here is an example on one template:

-rw------- 1 root root 21474836480 Oct 8 13:39 ref32-flat.vmdk

-rw------- 1 root root 8664 Oct 12 13:55 ref32.nvram

-rw------- 1 root root 337 Dec 9 00:32 ref32.vmdk

-rw------- 1 root root 0 Oct 4 16:31 ref32.vmsd

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1940 Oct 12 13:55 ref32.vmtx

-rw------- 1 root root 276 Oct 9 15:15 ref32.vmxf

-rw-rr 1 root root 94026 Oct 4 16:24 vmware-1.log

-rw-rr 1 root root 19860 Oct 4 16:35 vmware-2.log

-rw-rr 1 root root 19769 Oct 4 16:36 vmware-3.log

-rw-rr 1 root root 34669 Oct 4 16:37 vmware-4.log

-rw-rr 1 root root 75623 Oct 8 13:39 vmware-5.log

-rw-rr 1 root root 18956 Oct 12 13:55 vmware.log

If anyone know how to add the template I would be most thankful. This can't be that difficult - I just can't figure out how to see them.

Within your VC Gui select an esx server that has access to the vmfs volumes that store your templates.

Double Click the vmfs icon. Now you can browse the vmfs and locate your templates. Right Click vmx file and register your template again.
