Hi,
Actually there is a performance issue in a storage array which is over utilized. My suspicion is that there are some VM's which are using most of the IO capacity of the storage arrray. So I need a methodology for identifying the most IO intensive VM's in a VMware environment and I wish someone could let me know if you have any information or solution regarding this issue.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for responding. You have given the solution to solve performance issue but what I require is how to identify those VMs which were performing intensive IOPS,Thus reducing the performance..
Hi
one of the option is run ESXTOP for few hours in batch mode (masure only disk counters) and analize an output

hm.. so there is no way to do this research inside vCenter? I am trying to figure out which vm is using most of IO.. but it seems that this counter is available only for esxi host and when I select "view stacked (per VM)" I always get "Performance data is currently not available". I have already set level of loggin to 3.
Hi,
You can get the report from
Log in to vCenter --> Select the Host --> Go to Performance --> Click Advance --> Select Switch to Disk / Datastore --> Chart option --> Select any type of report you want --> Select stacked Graph (Per VM) --> Select the counters --> Apply --> OK
By this you can get the report which VM is having high I/O
OR
There is the tool called as VOPS which can be also very useful. For more details go with below link

I was there, but for almost all graphs I get "Performance data is currently not available", even though logging is set to level3. but I suppose this I have to ask in another thread.. At least I am thankful for your info, now I know it is something wrong with our setup.
Anton.
