Greetings All,
I am pulling my hair on how to change the Day light savings time changes this weekend.Should i directly edit zone files ? or is there a easy way of doing this ? How do you change the time in ESX servers for that matter ? Can i use linux date command ? By the way this is in Indiana and we decide to change the DST settings for some reason (those politicians grrrr).
On the VC i have no problem in changing this with M$ patch. I wonder if i have the correct time settings on VC (with ESX servers having incorrect time) if this gonna represent the performance stats with correct time ?Correct me if i wrong ,afterall its VC thats collects the data and plots against time?
Did it occur to you to search in Server and Datacenter Products forums for Daylight Savings Time?
http://www.vmware.com/community/thread.jspa?threadID=70539&tstart=20
Now that was very useful.
Thank you.
Just to double check with you guys, here is the output from one of my servers (all running ESX 3.01).
\[root@esx3 root]# zdump -v EST5EDT | grep 2007
EST5EDT Sun Mar 11 06:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 11 01:59:59 2007 EST isdst=0 gmtoff=-18000
EST5EDT Sun Mar 11 07:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 11 03:00:00 2007 EDT isdst=1 gmtoff=-14400
EST5EDT Sun Nov 4 05:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Nov 4 01:59:59 2007 EDT isdst=1 gmtoff=-14400
EST5EDT Sun Nov 4 06:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Nov 4 01:00:00 2007 EST isdst=0 gmtoff=-18000
\[root@esx3 root]# zdump -v /etc/localtime | grep 2007
/etc/localtime Sun Mar 11 06:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 11 01:59:59 2007 EST isdst=0 gmtoff=-18000
/etc/localtime Sun Mar 11 07:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 11 03:00:00 2007 EDT isdst=1 gmtoff=-14400
/etc/localtime Sun Nov 4 05:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Nov 4 01:59:59 2007 EDT isdst=1 gmtoff=-14400
/etc/localtime Sun Nov 4 06:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Nov 4 01:00:00 2007 EST isdst=0 gmtoff=-18000
Now this looks ok to me , dont you think ?
The other article was mainly on ESX2.5.x , so i guess there are patches for the ESX. This is kind of stupid but is there any patches for ESX3.01 ?
Thanks
They knew this was coming when they built 3.x, so no patch is needed.
