Hello, I need help obtaining and setting up ESX 3.5.

Hello,

I am new to virtual systems and trying to setup VMware ESX 3.5 on my DELL PowerEdge 2600, I think I need ESX 3.5 because that is the version that shows compatible with my server's hardware. Not sure if 4.0 will work?

But my main problem now is I looked all over the VMWare problem and cant seem to find download of ESX 3.5 or ESX 3.5 U5.

Also whats the difference between ESX 3.5 and ESXI 3.5, will it still work?

Also I was going to try to set this up but if someone could share a good source for installation and implemintation tutorial or instructions that would be nice, since I dont have time to read whole book about this and not sure if I can figure out all of it and do it right at first try.

Any help I'd be thankful for, waiting replies.

See if you can get the download from here, http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/datacenter_downloads/vmware_infrastructure_3/3_5

Here is a ESXI and ESX comparison. http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=100654...

I would make time to read the installation guides as they will go a long way in your testing.

HI Alex,

did you already have licence for ESX3 ? If not, then you are not able to download ESX3.5 version only vSphere4 is available in trial licence.

Regarding your question about vSphere4, if in you box you have 64bit (but i think you have 32bit) CPU then you can install vSphere4 on it, If you have 32bit CPU then only ESX3.5 would be posible to install.

If you need ESX3.5 ISO, let me know, we can figure out something Smiley Happy

It seems like I am not able to download from that page, it is requesting a serial number which I don't have. I have contacted VMWare but haven't received a response for several days now.
