Hardware upgrade ESX 3.5

Dear all,

I have a Proliant 380 G4 with 2 GB memory and a Emulex Fibre Card.

I want to build this server as my second ESX server in my environment.

My question: Once the server is build and running and I want to add later additional 4 GB Memory and a second Fibre Card maybe with a different chip, will ESX recognize hardware change doing a rescan for storage adapter in VI?

I'm not sure ESX is plug an play.

Thank you

Edy

Hello fafa24,

This is no problem, your hardware will be automaticly detected.. this has been changed since esx server 2.x

with esx 2 , you had to use vmkpcidivy -i command..

As long as your card is on the compatibility list then you will be fine. Memory will be no problem either
