HA question

Aloha - Last week a number of switches were swapped out. My ESX2 lost all connectivity - VMs and service console. My question is why didn't HA kick in and relocate the VMs?

you probably have admission control set to Prevent VM's from being powered on if they violate availability constraints?

It says "Allow VMs to be powered on...."

how long was the network disruption? What is your Host Isolation response set to for your guests?

I can't say for sure as I wasn't there, but my uneducated guess would be an hour +/-. Isolation response was set to "Power Off". I remember there was a distinct reason why I was advised to use this setting, but I can't recall why.

I can't say for sure why your guests did not failover to other nodes in the cluster, but we understand why they powered down. How's your storage setup, with ISCSI or Fiber Channel? Have you checked your aam logs?

We always set our isolation response to leave powered on. It really helps with false positives.
