HA agent has an error: Internal AAM error. Agent did not start.

Greetings,

I'm experiencing the error "HA agent has an error: Internal AAM error. Agent did not start." when attempting to turn on HA on a cluster of three similiar machines. Only one of the machines has the error.

The servers in question are Dell SC1435 servers, running VMware ESX Server, 3.5.8, (64607). We are using VMware Infrastructure Client 2.5.0 (64192) on VMware VirtualCenter 2.5.0 (64192). I just installed VMware ESX on all three, using the exact same steps on each. Disabling HA on the cluster and then re-enabling it does not resolve the problem. Currently, there are no VMs running on this new cluster.

What should I do to resolve this problem?

Problem resolved. I had changed the IP address on this host, but had apparently forgotten to update the /etc/hosts file with the new IP address. I updated this value, then successfully reconfigured the server for HA.

I notice that the SC1435 servers are not on the HCL. Are they working ok for you?

Thanks,
