Grub Password

Hi,

Following the VMware security hardening recommandations from Vmware. I want to set a grub password.

Version : ESX 3.0.2

I done the following steps :

grub> md5crypt

Password: **********

Encrypted: $1$U$JK7xFegdxWH6VuppCUSIb.

Then, cut and paste the encrypted password to my configuration file (grub.conf).

The problem is that :

when I reboot my esx and press p at the grub page, I have to enter my password.

I enter it but I've "Failed !"

Thank you

Firstly check the syntax of your grub.conf file, you should have a line something like

password --md5 $1$U$JK7xFegdxWH6VuppCUSIb.

secondly try again, you may have miss cut and pasted it.
