Windows Gui to install VMware ESX-Server 3.x patches

Features:

  • central repository for patches with our own webserver

  • read Patchbuild from ESX-Server

  • automatically display the absents patches

  • automatically patch all absents patches (sort by releasedate or by name)

for use unpack the patches unter applicationdirectory\patches\version\

example: c:\program files\esxpatcher\patches\3.0.1\ESX-1006511

Problems in this beta:

The Gui freeze without repaint (don`t worry , the application is still running) when you patch

After the patch is installed the gui come back – don´t panic Smiley Wink

I believe the problem might be that the patches need to be decompressed and then copied to the appropriate folder in the

C:\Program Files\esxpatcher\patches\3.0.X folder.

EsxPatcher cannot see the patches if they are still in .tgz compressed format. They need to be like this:

C:\Program Files\esxpatcher\patches\3.0.1\ESX-100XXXX

In a folder like this, decompressed, with the data under this folder.

Im having problems with the esxPATCHER.

Im running ESX 3.0.1 and and using version 0.8.0 of the Mightycare esxPATCHER.

I tried with the 0.7.9 version aswell and got the same problem.

The problem im having is, it wont reconnice some of the patches. If i copy 1 of the patches that it dont like over in the patch dir, the patcher wont load at all, and the msg in the logfile is plane garbage to me.

This is the patches im having problems with. (and yes i did unpack them before moving them to the patch folder 😛 )
