Folders in VC console

We have VMWare Infrastructure Client 2.5.0.

There is option (only) under datacenter to make folders, to organize logically host and vm's.

Now, we made folder but we can move ONLY hosts, virtual machines are not possible to move.

I know we can do it under Virtual Machines and Templates, but we would like to make them under Hosts and Clusters.

Is that possible?

Hi sasr,

I don't think it is - have a look at this document:

http://pubs.vmware.com/vi301/admin/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=admin&file=BSA_Inve...

It explains the VI client object hierarchy. You'll notice that VMs can ne children of Folders within Virtual Machines and Templates, but not in Hosts and Clusters view.

Hope that helps.

In Host & Cluster you can use Resource Pools to group your VMs.

But you need the DRS license.

I know that, we used RP before, but folders seems a little bit nicer to use...
