First time converter of win7: cant access share ADMIN$

Hi!

Have set up a lab environment using Workstation 7.1. Win 2008 r2 with vCenter. Trying to use Vmware converter standalone. Im getting this error when trying to install the agent (on my remote Win 7 machine):

"unable to connect to the network share"

I have done this:

http://chall32.blogspot.com/2010/02/how-to-enable-access-windows-7.html

Net use also fails:

C:\Users\Administrator>net use * 10.x.x.xx\admin$ /u:10.x.x.xx\administrator *
Type the password for 10.x.x.xx\admin$:
The server is not configured for remote administration.

So, any ideas?

Most likely it is w7 trying to protect itself...

Try disabling UAC on w7 machine... (wil need reboot) also, try disabling the firewall service, and disable any AV software you have running.

If that doesn't work, try doing a net use from your VC converter machine to the w7 box to the admin$ share...

net use z: \\computername\admin$

see if you can do that.. if you can't then neither can converter.

Also, found this thread that talks about disabling 'simple' file sharing...
