Expanding a vmdk 32 bit vs 64 bit, using diskpart

Hey all,

I know under 32 bit you can expand the size of a vmdk using a helper vm and diskpart.

If I have a 64 bit vm that I want to expand, do I have to use a 64 bit helper vm or could I use a 32 bit?

Respectfully,

Matthew

The guest file system will be the same on 64 and 32bit guests, so can use diskpart in either a 32bit or 64bit helper to expand the filesystem.

Even a Windows XP VM will do the trick...

Basically you'll be fine with anything that can read an NTFS filesystem and can expand disks.

Laughing, sure, wait until after I test everything to come back and tell me it will work! Smiley Happy

Yup, a 32 bit helper vm can expand a 64 bit vmdk.
