Expand Datastore

Hi,

I have an ESX 3.5 host that I have just added some additional HDD's to and expanded the array and the logical drive.

Within the VI Client under 'storage adapters' I can see the new storage capacity, however, under 'storage' the datastore is the original size (which I would expect), but if I then use the 'Add Storage' option I cannot add any additional space.

What am I doing wrong, and is there a way of expanding the datastore to use the new disk space without backing off the VM's and rebuilding?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question!

With 3.5 you are not able to expand a VMFS data store once it is created the best you can do is add an extent to the original data store which will stretch the storage across the two VMF data stores

Thanks for the reply.  It looks like I will have to back off the VM's and re-install ESX then as I expanded the logical drive as well as RAID array.  Oh well, I know for next time!
