(sorry for the cross posting, but as this question pertains to different versions of VMWare, I felt it neccessary to post in corresponding community)
Is there documentation of or a list of all event log ID/messages that could be generated by the components of a typical VMWare (any version) installation? I am specifically looking for the types of messages to be culled from or searched for in log files that would have security implications. I found http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-11542 which shows some examples of the types of things I am looking to uncover from VMWare log files. (This example is for ESXi).
Any help on monitoring (i.e, what to look for) in VMWare log files (or their syslog counterparts if an organization has chosen to export them to syslog) would be greatly appreciated.
