ESX3.5 Update2 + VSS + snapshot AD Controller

Hi,

We have the following setup:

SITE A

1 ESX clusters (2 ESX hosts)

1 NetApp Filer

SITE B:

1 ESX clusters (2 ESX hosts)

1 NetApp Filer

Connection between the site is Fiber, We are using SnapMirror of NetApp in combination with VIBE (NetApp script) to create a redundant setup.

This is all ok except for your Virtual AD controller, because the snapshot is not aware of AD.

Is it possible to make the snapshot of the AD server consistent without using VCB or any other backup tool?

ESX 3.5 Update 2 has now support for VSS, but it seems in the documentation that it only work when using VCB?

Hi, are both sites live or is this a BC/DR relationship? On the replication how much data could you potentionally loose if a site went down? Do you have DC's in both sites and are they in the same AD Sites/Domains?

In my case the question reguards a single site. I agree in 2 sites a second controller on the dr site is enough.
