ESX3.01 Host won't go into Maintenance Mode

Well I checked the forums high and dry but couldn't find anything about my issue. I had 2 ESX3.01 hosts in a cluster...I tried putting one of them without any VM's into maintenance mode and it just sits at "in progress". After a couple hours I booted the host from root and it booted but it still says "in progress" in VC (I re-opened VC). I also tried restarting mgmt-vmware on the host...WTF?

You can try to restart the Virtual Center Server Service on VC and see if that will clear things up

Reboot it again, there is a menu option to enter maintenance mode from the GRUB (I think).

There was one in 2.5 I know, and I think it should still be there. Try that, at least you can force it upon reboot. Just an Idea Smiley Happy

I can assure restarting the Virtual Center Server services will solve this because I just did it in 10 minutes. It keeps hanging "In Progress" so I have to RDP to my VC server and spin the services and it start kicks Migrate Virtual Machine status.

Good Luck!

Aight, I will get my little maintenance window and bounce VC and let y'all know. If it doesn't work though, "I will award you no points, and may VMdawg have mercy on your soul."

p.s. If'n you can name that movie I will give you some "helpful" points...
