ESX server and "not responding" in VI client

Just built up an ESX 3.0.1 server on a Proliant DL385G2.

VI server is running on a DL380G3 under windows 2003. Database is SQL2000 SP4.

When i connect from the client to the ESX, it connects fine then after 2 mins or less i get the "not responding" message.

If i disconnect from the ESX serve then reconnect, all is fine for another 2 mins.

Any ideas where to start with this.

The VI server has GSX server running on it at the moment, until i can migrate all the VM's to the ESX server.

Thanks.

I too have this behavior and have not yet been able to find a solution. We are running ESX 3.0 and VC 2.1.

Chk the firewall.... turn it off and that should work for you

Also Putty into the host and run a top to make sure no process such as hostd are out of control.

The issue has been resolved. I got IT to stop saying it was my problem and look at the network config while i was there. The traffic was setup only for one way.

Now that the firewalls have been configured properly the issue has gone away!
