ESX install 3.5 update 3 "noapic"

I'm installing VMware ESX 3.5 update 3 on a supermicro server. I was getting kernel panic errors "oops" during the install and I was told to run the install with "esx noapic text" which works for me. I have seen some other threads that say that running with noapic is not a supported configuration.

Can someone tell me if running with noapic is supported. Also what are the downfalls of running "noapic"

Your bios config is set to some weird APIC settings for power management. So try changing the power management settings for the bios to something else. Usually you want no power savings and S3 is standard.
