ESX Server installation !!

hi all

i am newbie to vmware products.I want to use vmware esx server 3.0.2 independent of the VI 3.0 . Can i do that.?Is their any special instructions that i need to take care during the installation process?

You can definitely install ESX right on your hardware and start from there.

If you can give it a static IP and you may want to just accept the default partitioning during the install. Once you have played around with it you may want to reinstall and change the partitioning around a bit. Here is a link to the install documentation.

Here are some tips:

- use a static IP

- check KB1339 for time settings (after install)

- manually partition the drive, browse this forum for recommendations

- have at leat 2 NICs
