ESX Server -- Add Storage -- LUN shows Capacity as blank

ESX Server -- Add Storage -- San attached LUN shows Available Space as blank;

The other 19 LUNS show up with correct available space. Storage is SAN attached. This is the first LUN (LUN 0) and it shows the correct capacity of 33.72 GB but shows capacity as a blank.

Have you tried rescanning?

Anything in the logs? Can you unpresent that LUN and add it back?

Hello,

Run 'fdisk -l' if there is a filessytem already on the LUN then it may not show any available capacity.

Also LUN 0 may actually be the 'controlling LUN' and that LUN is generally not available for anything as it is really used for communication and control. Which SAN are you using?

Best regards,

Edward

We are using EMC DMX for our SAN for this configuration.

If you create another test LUN (not LUN0) does it work?

Was the LUN created from scratch or used previously?

Is this LUN on the same fiber paths as existing LUNs that work? If not check zoning/masking.

This disk was created the same time as the other 19 and they are all on the same path. My next plan is to change the lun number, try to reallocate the storage and/or make the device not ready then ready.
