ESX 3.5 stuck with GRUB prompt

While i was trying to upgrade my ESX 3.5 to latest build 238493. It went to "not responding" mode in the middle.

Actions Taken:

  • Restarted mangaement service

  • Restarted VPXA agent

There was no luck by doing those things. Finally, i tried to reboot the server. While rebooting the server, it stuck with GRUB prompt. I don't know how to exit from that prompt. I googled something and i got a KB from VMware site. But it didn't work. ()

Please help me, how to get rid of this problem and give me little bit of information about GRUB prompt.

Thanks,

Gany

Run from the installation CD (of 3.5) and do an upgrade from there.

This will fix any boot loader issue.

Yesterday i had a conversation with VMware Inc., supoort, they said "Rebuild it". They added some of the kernel files has been crashed and no other way to fix this knida problem.

I got shocked when they said like that. Coz, this is not a solution what we are expecting from them. Their words totally set me down.

Do you really think, an upgrade from CD will fix it. If so, Please give me some tips or any web link to make it easy.

Thanks,

Gany
