ESX 3.5 install wont' detect my network card - HP ProLiant G6!!

Hello,

I just received a HP ML150 G6 Server and put in the ESX server install CD and was quite suprised to see that I got an error saying "unable to find any supported network devices". I find this very hard to believe. How can this be? HP ProLiant servers I thought were fully compatible with vmware?

Also, I put in the CD for ESXi to see if that would go and got a message about no available storage devices at the installer screen. The controller being used is the Smart Aray B110i Controller. Seems to be 2 huge issues. Anyone got any HP G6 servers operating?

You might want to check the HCL before actually buying a server. The ML150 isn't on the list:

ESXi might be your best bet to get this thing running ESX , check the following websites for hints and tips:

The built-in Embedded HP NC107i PCI Express

Gigabit Server Adapter does not support ESX 3.5

but it will be supported in 4.0

to get it working you will have to add any supported NIC.

best may be to go with a HP

NC360T PCI Express Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter 412648-B21

so you can use 2 nic ports and split machines and services.
