ESX 3.5 U5 can not see and mount VMFS Datastore

Hello @all,

at the moment i have these Problems.

ESX 3.5 Enviroment with 4 ESX Server ans NetApp FC FAS2040 Storage

all Server are connectet over FC with the NetApp LUNs and all Server are allowed to

see and map all the VMware LUN´s on the storage system i have create 8 LUN´s for VMware

its strange 1 server can mount all luns and 4 server can only mount 7 from these 8 luns- in all LUNs are powerd on vms no LUN was unused.

when i trie to add the storage over "add Storage / add LUN" the missed Lun is comming up on the 4 esx server but with the information

that this LUN was blank/unformatted !!!

does somebody know a solution for these Problem ???

You only create datastore on one host the rest just enough with the rescan.

yes thats right, but i have rescan more than 20 times all hba´s on the other esx servers

but the LUN is not coming up.....and is still there as unformatted lun when i try to add storage !!!

so all servers can see the lun, no issue in the san fabric ore initiator group on the netapp storage

i dont know why the rest of the servers can not read the meta information from these lun and mount ist.......

Just to clarify. Is this a new LUN or did it already work with all the hosts?

Are the permissions set correctly on the NetApp system?

Has the LUN been presented to e.g. a Windows system?

Please run "fdsik -lu" on the console of one of the hosts to verify the partition type is VMFS "FB"?
