ESX 3.5 Service Console Summary?

Hello everybody,

is there a summary of the service console commands of ESX 3.5? There isn't even a manpage e.g. for the vmware-cmd command. Sometimes I have to administrate the ESX only via console and whereever ain't no good documentation there's pain Smiley Happy

Thanks,

McBain

Thanks ctfoster for the link! I wonder why these documents are not listet in the official VMware Knowledge-Base...

And petedr: yes, I did "vmware-cmd -h", but like you said it's not very detailed and I want to know what exactly the command will do BEFORE I execute it Smiley Happy

Yes, the online information is not that good. One thing I have found that vmware-cmd can be hit or miss, some of the options work fine while others have issues or just don't work like connectdevice/disconnectdevice.

Another good option to vmware-cmd if you haven't looked at it for service console command line stuff is using vimsh.

xtravirt has a good document on using vimsh for 3.5
