ESX 3.5 MSCS NTP settings

Hi All

I know that vSphere recommendation is to use a common NTP source for all DCs and Clustered VMs and then disable the host time sync on the VM. But is this the same for 3.5 as I can't see anything to confirm that from vmware.

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the forums.

VMware used to recommend synchronizing the PDC Emulator to an external accurate time source. But all other machines, DCs and Members should use W32time and nothing else. Have a look at this document.

Using NTP on all Windows machines is now the best practice (see here).

So both solutions are good. I would suggest using the latest as it should be more accurate.

Good luck.

Regards

Franck
