Hi all, receive greetings from Mexico

I got a question about EMCGrab.

EMC send us this file, emcgrab_Linux_v3 7.tar, to be executed in VMware ESX 3.0.1, but as the name file tells, it is for linux.

Has anyone tried to install this utility from EMC?

We've had to use it in the past - it gathers storage data for the vendor (EMC). It's used for troubleshooting storage problems. It'll run on the host.

I am now being asked to run this by EMC. What exactly am I supposed to do with it? When I try to execute 'tar -xf emcgrab_Linux_v3.8.tar' I get:

tar: Skipping to next header

tar: Archive contains obsolescent base-64 headers

tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

Any suggestions would be wonderful.

You can ignore me, took the f switch away and was on my way again.
