Doing SAN upgrade, need a way to backup all vm's

Hello All,

In my companies plans to get to vSphere 4, we are upgrading out SAN as a first step. We currently have an EMC CX3-20f SAN. We plan to convert it to a CX4-240. Now EMC says this is fairly safe, and I believe them, but I still want a complete backup of all my vm's first. This is non production stuff, and currently backups only occur via scripts that tar to ssh and go offsite on certain directories.

I plan on dropping in a 8TB Sun box (x4500) and mount lots of NFS storage.

Can anyone point me to something that will allow me to backup the entire vm to the NFS datastores? I know I could shutdown the vm, and do a copy, but I'm hoping there is a better way. I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I'm getting back in the swing with ESX.

You can have a look at http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-8760 and http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-9843 for a couple of backup scripts. Work extremely well.
