Disk not visible after addition on ESX3.5

Hi Everyone,

I have single Stand alone ESX 3.5 host where 5 VMs running.Recently i have added  2 drives of 300 GB of equal size but the Host is not detecting the added drives. The ESX host is Dell Poweredge 2950 having local storage.Any help on this will  much appreciated.

Right now Local Storage is 899 GB

Hi,

I have added to 2 extra disks to our ESX 3.5 server update 2 (using local storage on the server) but the ESX server is not picking up these additional disks as all, I have doen re-scan but will not pickup these disks.  The server we have is a Dell PowerEdge2950.  Could some please advise as to correct way of adding extra disks to the ESX server.

thanks

Does the server have a RAID controller? if so after adding the disks we have to initialize the disks in Controller to get it detected by ESXi.

Hi yezdi

I checked with the Local guy from support team and found that they  had not configured RAID Controller after adding disk and not initialised  it.Do you

have any document or link for configuring RAID  controller after adding additional disk on local storage on DellPoweredge 2950.

Disk Model  SAS 300GB 10K25

thanks

Hi vmhyperv,

please make sure type of disk mean basic or dynamic .

If dynamic some time this type of problem occure if its created in another machine.

For that you have to take backup then convert it to basic disk .
