Disabling IPv6 on ESX v3.01

Hi all,

Nice easy one, please can somebody advise the correct method for disabling IPv6 on the ESX v3.0.1 console operating system (i.e. vswif0). I thought it would be in /etc/modprobe.conf but that doesn't seem to exist Smiley Sad

Thanks.

Hi,

what is the ouput of ifconfig on your cos? If I take a look at our servers there is no IPv6 adress listed.

In /etc/sysconfig/network:

  1. NETWORKING_IPV6=yes|no: controls global IPv6 initialization (default: no)

Is it set to yes?

Regards,

Andy

Hi Andy,

I'm really sorry but I've dropped a bit of a clanger here and got my hosts mixed up, the problem was with an RHEL guest and not the host, which as you point out doesn't have IPv6 enabled, many thanks for the post which should do the business on the guest OS, sorry about the mixup!
