Dell R910 on ESX 3.5 U5

Just bought a Dell R910 w/8 core nehalem processors. I understand Vmware doesn't support this machine on 3.5 but is anyone out there running a R910 on ESX 3.5 and if so, any reported issues? I'll have to boot from QLogic SAN adapter since 3.5 won't find the driver for the PERC H700 controller.

I'm not ready to jump into vSphere yet but want to start using this host.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

thanks.

Why not? What is the hold up? vSphere is much better than ESX 3.5, and it's not really different from VI Client or Command line perspective, it all works the same, it just works BETTER. So why the hesitation?

Just don't want to rush into upgrading vCenter to 4.0 only to get this one machine running. I've got 32 other hosts in this vCenter install and a lot of people depending on it. In my plans for the next 4-8 weeks but I need this server running before then if possible.

thanks for the input.

Any issues you know of running a mix of 3.5 and 4.0 hosts under vCenter 4 at the same time?
