Datastore layout software?

I'm working a project to once again re-work datastores for a customer.

As usual, most of the LUN's are already laid out, so it's simply a function of figuring out which VM's should go on which datastore. Of course that's the problem. They have decided to increase a series of VM's by about 1TB, and I need to re-lay out the datastores to accommodate the expansion.

Does anyone know of any type of simple modeling system that can achieve some kind of reporting for this?

But you need a software to design the VMFS layout?

Or the SAN disks/RAID Group/LUN layout?

The datastore layout.

I'm not trying to find out what I have, I have plenty of powershell scripts that can tell me that. That's what scripts such as create-vmdiskoverviewcan tell you.

I'm trying to model where I want to be so I can present the layout to management and show them what storage is needed to accomidate their requested expansions.

There are also a lot of free tools to do.

Like RVTools or some products from Veeam.

No, not exactly. Overcomplicated.

Basicly, think of it like this.

Oranges go into bags, bags go into boxes.

I want to graphicly represent the size of an organge, set the number of oranges that will go in a bag, and fill a box with a specified number of bags.

VMDK's = oranges

Bags = VM's

Boxes = datastore

There has to be a clean way to present this and lay it out, so you can fill datastors with VM's that are appropriatly sized.

Usualy to do this, we use overcomplciated and seriously ugly Excel sheets. I'm wondering if there is anything cleaner.
