Datastore Name change

What are the implications of changing the name of a datastore with ESX 3.0.2.

Is this possible without losing data and what is the best approach to do this ?

Since VI3 this is a very straight forward process, simply right click and rename, all done..!!

as long as you never registered VMs manually from the CLI (most people don't), there's no problem renaming a datastore. Perfectly supported.

It does not matter, because you must not try to use the 'friedly datastore name' in the path to the .vmx[/b] file anyway.

if you know what you're doing, it doesn't matter, I agree. But not everybody knows exactly what they're doing Smiley Happy
