DataStore on LUN

Hi,

If I have a LUN of 300 GB, Can I create two datatore within one LUN.

Am I right to say that in order for vmotion 3.03 to work, both must be in the same Datastore?

Thanks

As long as both (or all) HOSTS had access to the LUN(s), you'll be able to vmotion. I could envision a scenario where you'd want to isolate I/O with 2 datastores, but not sure if you'd want to implement the configuration you want to impleement.

Best pracrice is to create a single VMFS datastore per LUN - so I would not reommend what you want to do -

for vmotion to work it actually is that both ESX hosts must be able see the datastore(s) containg the VM and its virtual disks - I am not sure what you mean by "both must be in the same datastore"
