Data Protector 6.1 ESX 3.5 VCB integration

All,

Looking for some advice on the below issue.

3 x ESX3.5 Host Servers

HP DP 6.1 in VMWware integration mode, VCB framework installed on VC server (update 4)

Unable to restore a VCB Image VM, following errors

The OS reported an error while accessing <host>
IPC cannot connect
.......
no target host

I havent opened up firewall to ports 5555 as not using the Agent on the ESX hosts.

Any suggestions please

TIA

Nels

Hello,

Moved to ESX 3.5 forum.

Sounds like you need to open up those ports. VCB is used to backup not restore images. Normally you would restore using VMware Converter.

Data Protector wants to do a restore directly to the ESX server. Other backup software packages that integrate with VCB will allow you to route to the proxy and then use converter. DP 6.1 requires a DP disk agent on the ESX hosts so it can restore back to the ESX server/farm.
