Would someone explain in plain words and details what is happening on the background of HA and DRS.
Thank you
Basically both of these requires to have shared resources on storage such as iSCSI, NFS & FC and also have meet the requirements on the cluster before you can enable them. High Availability is use for unplanned downtime such as systems crashed or power issue. This will automatically restart your virtual guests to a standby hosts within the clusters and the restarting process and priorities rule can be adjusted according to your preference. There are 5 primary coordinators and standby secondary coordinator within HA, and it allow maximum of 4 hosts to failed in a cluster so the 5th primary coordinator can perform the job. Distributed Resource Scheduler is basically a load balancer mechanism within ESX clusters where all CPU and RAM are distributed evenly and you can set it to be conservative or aggressively or automatically with recommendations level. These feature can be manage using vCenter server.
