DR - need help using CCI agent with Hitachi Truecopy

Hi,

We have a project to build 3 ESX3.5u3 with 8TB of SAN space seperated on 2 Hitachi SAN unit.

We've got 2 sites. Site C and D. 4TB in each site, (40X100GB Luns) and use Hitachi Truecopy to replicate the 4TB from site C to site D.

2 ESX in site C and 1 ESX in site D.

As per Hitachi documentation we've got two options: Install a guest OS and run the CCI agent or install the CCI agent directly on the ESX console.

We installed the CCI Agent on the ESX Console. The other common name for CCI is HORCM.

All the ESX see the 80Luns (40 luns from each site). We created the Luns Pair using the CCI software to enable to truecopy between Site C and D.

Our issues are that once we simulated a disaster by disabling site D, and we use the "pairsplit" command to activate the COPY from site C. The ESX from each site lose their connectivity to the datastore. But we shouldnt lose the connectivity as we are using Truecopy and we enabled the COPY. The goal was to keep working with the copy and then bring back online the site D and use the site C (copy) as the source to update site D with the new data.

In VCenter, the datastore disappear, until we bring the paired luns online again. There is no way to use the other site while we bring the disabled site online.

Re-scanning HBA, resetting HBA, rebooting ESX, tons of refresh of the storage menu.

Are we missing a tool? Is there a way to split the paired lun and use the other half of the pair that is still UP ? Isnt it the goal of truecopy?

Thank you

I had to make LVM.Disallowsnapshotlun =0 and LVM.Enableresignature = 0 in the advance settings to allow my ESX to see my copied VMFS by Truecopy.

If somebody has input on those 2 settings, I will be more than happy to hear them.
