DNS Register

Guys,

Is there a command equivalent to "ipconfig /registerdns" that I can run from ESX server?

I have built a new ESX server. I can ping it, I can connect it to VC, but it does not resolve DNS name. So I am trying to force it to register with DNS.

I have checked all IPs (DNS servers, Gateway, etc.) and everything is correct.

Thank you in advance for your help!

You need to register a host name manually in your DNS in order to be able to resolve the hostname. You should ask you DNS admin for assistance.

I second bister's comments. You have to have your DNS admins add an entry for the ESX host.

ESX wont register itself in DNS, its a manual intervention..

You will need to add a host record to your DNS Server, give the Host Record the name and IP Address of your ESX Server and all will be ok..

From your Workstation you may need to do..

ipconfig /flushdns
