Creating the ESX image

I am going to create an image for the esx server.

The server configuration is:

Raid1: 73GB

Raid5: 350GB

The raid1 is included the esx OS system.

The raid5 has all vmware machines.

I am going to make all raid configurations to the image to make other same esx servers.

Is it possible to create the image for the server? If it is possible, could you tell me how to do this?

Thanks,

If you're talking about setting up the RAID arrays on the controller per each physical ESX server, then no. Images are only software based. The RAID information is stored locally on the physical hardware of the controller in the server and is independent to any software you can install on the drives.

You mean that I cannot use ghost software to make image both raid1 and raid5 RAID arrays.

Correct. RAID Arrays are stored locally on RAID controller itself which is independent from any software. After you manually create the RAID1 and RAID5 arrays on the hardware, you can then use Ghost to install the software image(ESX Operating system, VM Storage location, etc) onto the physical box.
