Copy ISO files to LUN

What's the best (easiest) way to copy ISO files to a LUN on my SAN? I have created a LUN to be used for housing cd images that can be used by all of my VMs but haven't figured out exactly how to get the ISOs copied to it. The LUN has been formatted with vmfs.

Can I use FTP or SCP? If so, do I need to assign some sort of file permissions or modify any firewall/security settings?

I'm using ESX3 with VC2.

WinSCP and FastSCP will do the job for you and you won't have to edit the security profile for this. You will need to create a user to transfer the files as root will be denied SCP/SSH access by default.

You can use SCP or FTP (personally I prefer SCP since I don't have to open an additional port when SSH already is configured).

Make sure to open the appropriate ports in the ESX firewall.

Also make sure to use binary transfers with both of them.

If you use Windows take a look at WinSCP.

I like Veeam FastSCP 2.0 for VMware ESX Server (Free)

It also does things the others can't like multiple ESX Servers, ESX to ESX copies, etc.

If you have issues with root access, and don't know how to edit the file, they also make a product that manages that issue

Thanks for all the quick replies. I'm using winscp as I am somewhat familiar with that. I was able to login to the server with winscp and found the vmfs/volumes/storagename to copy the files to.

Thanks.

An alternate method is to store them on a Windows server if you are interested....
