Hi,
None of the numerous PDFs from either Dell, EMC or Vmware seem to have the definitive answer.
On my ESX I have
vSwitch0
-VMs
-Production Network
vSwitch1
-vMotion vmKernel
-192.168.3.1
vSwitch2
-Service port
-Production Network
vSwitch3 (iSCSI)
-vmKernel 192.168.50
-Service Port 192.168.1.51
-iSCSI network
My AX150i has the following ports
SPA 0 - 192.168.1.101
SPA 1 - 192.168.1.102
SPB 0 - 192.168.1.103
SPB 1 - 192.168.1.104
What I cannot fathom is what the IP address of the iSCSI Software Initiator is, 50 or 51 ?
I need to give an IP addy to the connection in Navisphere, but not sure which I should use.
I've tried both, niether has worked yet.
Is there to bind the iSCSI to vSwitch3 ?
Thanks
The iSCSI initiator is both.
vSwitch3 (iSCSI)
-vmKernel 192.168.50
-Service Port 192.168.1.51
The vmkernel IP is for the traffic. The service console port is for authentication.
How does ESX choose which vSwitch to use, I only have one vSwitch with both a Service Console and a vmKernel, but if I had more than one which would be chosesn and why ?
In Navisphere Express I can only add one ip address per iSCSI name, when describing connections, and names must be unique.
Oops. Mistake. So, you need to give access to the SAN from both IPs. The initiator is actually the iqn... identifier that was configured when you enable iSCSI - it can also be changed in the GUI.
