Conflicting IP information on vswitch

Has anyone ever encountered a problem where they look at the properties of their network adapters on a vswitch and get conflicting IP information.

I have 2 ESX 3.0.1 servers that show different IP ranges when I look at the vswtich properties. Sometimes it will show the right IP range, then about a half hour later it will show 0.0.0.1 - 255.255.255.254 for all four adapters connected to the vswitch. The really weird thing is that the vmware guest servers never encounter any networking issues.

Whent the ESX servers were built we configured them to use static IPs.

Everything seems normal, but what I am seeing is not.

Is this something that is wrong with the network outside of the ESX host, or could be it something within the ESX server itself.

Thanks

yeah me too I saw this..

This seems to change as you have probably more than one nic binded to this vSwitch and it is showing network availaible.

since this seems to be for your vms and there is no static ip given to a vswitch they can use all network availaible.

That's my understanding.. maybe I'm right maybe not..

So for me I see this as normal things

This is normal, this is called "network hints" and is a best guess based on whatever traffic the NIC is seeing. See the below links for more info...

Why do network hint ranges for NIC's using VLAN tagging keep changing - http://www.vmware.com/community/thread.jspa?messageID=678394 and http://www.vmware.com/community/thread.jspa?messageID=503421
