Configuring ISCSI

Guys,

I'm setting up an office with 2 ESX servers and will be connecting to NAS using software ISCSI. The office will be using a 172.17.162.X network. There is a separate subnet for ISCSI.

The service consoles and vmkernel will be on different subnets. WIll I need to create a second service console and attach it to the vmkernel?

Hi,

If iSCSI is in seperate subnet you need to have service console network port and vmkernal IP storage network port for that subnet for the software iSCSI initiator to work

not so much attach it to the vmkernal, but attach it to the vswitch that the vmkernal is attached too.

If you can not route between the two subnets then yes you will need a second Service Console port - the easiest way is to put in on the same vswitch as yor vmkernel port that is on the iSCSI network -
