Configuration of Qlogic QLA 4050C

Hello,

I am trying to configure the QLA 4050C on an esx server 3.0.1.

I have tried configuring it's ip address from the BIOS on the card via the <CTRL-Q> and it did not work.

There seems to be a way to configure it's ip address from the VI 2 client but the configuration doesn't seem to be taking.

Looking for help . . .

\- Jon

Hi - I'm going through a similar exercise and have QLA4050c cards too. This is what I can pass on:

Goto the link below and download the following:

http://support.qlogic.com/support/product_resources.asp?id=962

\- BIOS for QLA405x 1.09

\- iSCSI Firmware 2.0.0.45

Follow the update instructions here:

http://download.qlogic.com/boot_code/50351/Readme_QLA405x_BIOS.htm

I copied the qla4022.dl (this is the firmware) file onto a floppy together with the BIOS and iFlash utility. Then run iFlash and selected the A option which means:

/A xxxx Write the BIOS and firmware to HBA address xxxx. If no address is specified, the BIOS and firmware are written to all HBAs.

Reboot and you will find both BIOS and Firmware updated.

Good luck!

Any changes you make in VC to the card address require a reboot to take effect.

That is my problem, After it reboots, the configuration changes are gone again.

OK . . . I've found more but havn't figured out. I am not on the latest / minimum firmware level. These are IBM OEM cards and the qlogic site points us to the vmware site for the updates. I have not been able to locate where to get the drivers on the vmware site. IBM does not have anything on QLA4050C. That was why I went to the qlogic site.

Any ideas where I need to go?>

I need the following minimum levels.

QLogic iSCSI adapters require minimum BIOS v1.09 and minimum firmware v2.00.00.38.

Thanks,

Jon

Hello . . .

This looks like what I need. I will not get a chance to try this until next week.

Thank you for your feedback. I think this will do it. I have given you credit on this.

Thanks,

Jon
