Clock/time running too fast in VMs (Linux)

Hi Folks,

We have several Linux VMs on our ESX cluster and it seems that only those on Suse 9.3 have their time/clock running really fast. I've applied KB1006427 and it doesn't help. Any thoughts? Any other workaround that I can applied?

Thanks

Are you using clock sync with VMWare Tools?

VMware Tools are installed in the guest OS, and the following option is present in the .vmx file:

tools.syncTime = "TRUE"

Hi Andre,

Nope. I'm using the ntp service on the linux OS and have disabled the VMware Tools time synchronization (as recommended on the KB). By the way, the Suse 9.3 we have are 64-bit.

I've got this problem only on old distros.

Or I do not notice, cause on Linux I prefer to use an external NTP server, instead the one VMware Tools time sync.
